WHAT IS IT?
The HBA is a landlord! The association owns the HBA Business Campus – a 2.3 acre, 2 building complex with 16 suites and over 11,000 square feet of office space.
The HBA office is in one of those suites, the rest are rented, or available to rent, to various professional tenants (PS – That could be you. If you are looking for space, check us out).
The Property Management Committee oversees the property complex and ensures tenant relations are at their peek.
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
Do you know anything about property maintenance, contracts, land-lording, customer service, remodeling, or business management?
Do you want to? Or, if you already do, do you want to learn more? Or, to simply ‘give back’ to your HBA? The Property Management Committee is the way.
WHAT DO COMMITTEE MEMBERS DO?
All Committees are the work horses of the HBA. On a Committee, you brainstorm, research, debate, present, and find ways to improve the HBA. What do the Members want? What will add to the Value of Membership? Start with: What do you want?
If you join the Property Management Committee, you will help choose the rent rates & Common Area Maintenance (CAM) fees, plan advertising & new tenant incentives, and decide on property improvement & maintenance.
HOW OFTEN DO THEY GATHER?
5 times a year, roughly every other month with no meetings in August and December. Plus, as needed for urgent situations (rare).
TO WHOM DO THEY REPORT?
Once agreed upon by majority vote at the Committee level, a representative of the Committee recommends action items to the HBA Board of Directors for the Board to make a final decision.
Committees have no authority on their own. They cannot bind the association, decide action, or vary direction. Committees serve the Board of Directors.
WHAT’S THE INSIDE SCOOP?
Committees are a great place to hone your leadership skills, make a difference in the construction industry, get to know folks, and be known.
The Property Management Committee is a small, nimble group that manages the face of the HBA which also happens to be our largest source of non-dues revenue. Success in this area means Member dues stay low and the funds are available to keep our influence high.
If you have any experience in, or interest in learning about, land-lording and property management, this is the way to be a part of the team.
